Tina Gregorič & Aljoša Dekleva

Dekleva Gregorič Arhitekti was founded by Aljoša Dekleva and Tina Gregorič in 2003, in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Both architects graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Ljubljana and continued studying at the Architectural Association in London, where in 2002 they received Master’s Degrees in Architecture.

Aljoša and Tina’s interests include (among many other things) systematic design processes, relationships between heritage and contemporary, experimental shelters, collective housing, the blending of design typologies and compact housing – the practice first came to international attention with the compact XXS house, which was awarded the 2004 Silver Plate, European Architecture Award Luigi Cosenza.

Since then, Aljoša and Tina have gone on to earn several more awards. In 2005 they received the WALLPAPER* award for “best breakthrough designers”. In 2009 their metal-recycling plant, ODPAD, received wide recognition after being shortlisted for the Mies van der Rohe Award, being awarded at the International Architecture Awards, and receiving Plečnik’s Medal in Slovenia. In 2009, the pair also won the ‘40 under 40’ awards from the European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies. In 2013, two projects, Housing Perovo and KSEVT (Cultural Centre of EU Space Technologies) were nominated for the Mies van den Rohe Award and; in 2015, the compact Karst House was nominated for the same award.

Aljoša and Tina have both been visiting lecturers and critics at several academic institutions, including: the Architectural Association London, Technical University Graz Austria, University of Ljubljana, IUAV Venice, Akademie der Kunste Berlin, University of Napoli Italy and DWM Mexico. They have run a summer school studio at London’s Architectural Association and a workshop at CEDIM in Mexico, and mentored a nano-tourism design research group, which was recognised being an “outstanding example of design ingenuity” at the 24th Biennial of Design, Ljubljana, Slovenia.
