Much of the land we call downtown Auckland was yet to be reclaimed when a 3000-acre block was gifted to the Government by Ngāti Whatua in 1840. Today, brick and mortar extends well beyond the original shoreline of the Waitematā Harbour, and some of the city’s best new architecture stands where water once flowed. Guided by these buildings’ architects, this walking tour is a unique opportunity to explore projects across Auckland’s Waterfront, Britomart and Wynyard Quarter precincts, and beyond. Experience architecture - both inside and out - through the eyes of the designer and understand the thinking behind each project’s response to the historic, environmental, and social context of its location.

Please note, this is a guided tour and requires a moderate level of fitness to participate. Further information will be emailed to attendees closer to the event date.
